Review of Marnie (1964) by David F — 11 Apr 2013
Really long Freudian nightmare about a troubled woman who constantly steals from a string of businesses where she works until one of her employers falls in love with her, marries her, and tries to save her.
That man is played by Sean Connery and he goes through a seemingly endless process of uncovering her childhood trauma with somewhat anticlimactic results. The material here is very similar to 'Vertigo' but this is a far less successful film than that masterpiece, with a less interesting plot, less interesting characters, and a story that just drags on forever.
