Review of Marnie (1964) by Kevin S — 31 Aug 2008
There's just something about Tippi Hedren that's beautifully detached. You get the sense that she has some remarkable inner warmth but she never lets you see it. Just a hint, here and there, of it's existence. And it's not just her character here in Marnie, she projected the same odd vibe in The Birds. Whatever it is that she has, it suits her role here very well.
This is far from my favorite Hitchcock film but I never tire of watching it. To me, even Hitch's bad stuff is still pretty good.
