Review of Marley & Me (2008) by Alison O — 07 Mar 2013
If you have ever owned a dog, then you will probably enjoy this movie. It mainly focuses on a couple's life with their dog Marley, and it works. It has some good humor, even taking some of the usual dog movie cliche's and using creativity to make it work.
Plus, the characters are pretty likable as well as realistic. However, there probably are a few too many sexual scenes, since it's still a dog movie that kids would probably be interested in. I have to admit though the ending is pretty sad, where Marley starts to get sick and eventually has to be put down.
This works since most pet owners have to go through with this at the end of their relationship with their animal companion. This movie certainly is one of the better dog films and a one I'd recommend to dog-lovers.
