Review of Marley (2012) by Paul L — 09 May 2012
Macdonald's love of his subject is clear. The bounce of Marley's music is infectious and there are occasional moments that raise an eyebrow. But the lack of footage of him is a problem and the two and a half hours of talking heads, newsreel and concert clips make the running time feel way too long.
As a straightforward homage to an important musician it works well, but for all it's heart and good intentions Marley's story will perhaps feel more at home on DVD with the headphones on. At least then you can press pause to roll a joint.
