Review of Marley (2012) by Chris B — 11 May 2012
I can't count myself as a Bob Marley fan but, having watched this brilliant documentary I can understand the passion, belief and sheer joy his music expressed. Rejected by his father's family, ridiculed as a 'half caste' and trapped in poverty he saw music as his way out.
The interviews with those who knew him well paint a picture of a man with a vision, an ambition to unite people of all races. I haven't stopped talking to my friends and family about this film. It really does show Bob Marley as more than a reggae musician and doesn't pull any punches.
Go see it and you'll come out happy that you understand but sad that he's gone.
