Review of Mark of the Vampire (1935) by Ron H — 08 Oct 2007
It's a vampire movie from the 30's, it's MGM and it's bela, you get what u rent. it's not a bad film, not a great film, it's a standard ole fashion hollywood vampire flick that has nothing great going for it, but nothing horrible either.
the sets look fine, the dialogue is a little cheesy but it's 1930's hollywood, people were easier to dupe back then. the ending came as a surprise and I must admit that halfway through the end of the film my mind started to wonder and suddenly a plot twist and plot line developed and I was scrambling to catch up with it, I think i've got the ending but something tells me that if I was paying more attention I would have enjoyed it better and it wouldn't have felt like it came out of left field.
still, nothing wrong with old hollywood and cheesy horror films.
