What a great performance by Catalina Sandino Moreno -- very evocative of a Black Madonna icon. The parallelisms with the character she plays, Maria, and The Mother Mary are eerily subtle, but poignant enough to prove a point.
I love it. Look out for the last scene in particular--Maria (Moreno) earns her quintessential iconic halo, but post-editors didn't paint her with the fuzzy, golden rings you'd expect.
