Review of Maria Full of Grace (2004) by David T — 15 Dec 2008
Disturbingly realistic and extraordinary in its courgae to be ordinary, "Maria Full of Grace" tells the atypical drug story that does not deal with 'the other side of glamour' or villainous drug middlemen - but with a victim of poverty who does not think like a victim.
Maria has the feistiness and intelligence to make the best of her situation, and Catalina Sandino Moreno's confident, charismatic (and b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!) 17-year-old title character captivates our sympathy from start to finish.
