Review of Marguerite (2015) by Huw David J — 06 Mar 2016
Set in post-ww1 France, story of a wealthy baronness who desperately wants to be an opera singer, even though she is fine deaf. At first we laugh at this poor, deluded women, as she screeches her way through Mozart's Queen of the Night, but by the end we feel only pity and sadness for a lonely woman, who is unloved by her husband and exploited by her so-called friends.
A very moving film.
