Review of Marguerite (2015) by Mike T — 28 Apr 2016
Sumptuous but uneven affair, carries along nicely for the first half and then starts to drag, especially when it sails past what the rest of the plot would seem to indicate will be the finale. After treating the central character's delusions of talent as relatively benign for most of the runtime, it oddly decides to go for the jugular with literally seconds to spare.
The central performance from Catherine Frot is enough to carry it through, but it's a close thing on more than one occasion.
