Review of Margot at the Wedding (2007) by Kristi S — 07 Sep 2008
Hmmmm....well....it was weird. It was really slow and character driven. We all know that doesn't bother me in the least, however I'm not quite sure if I liked it or not. It was real in the way that there is no resolution, nothing is tied up in a pretty package at the end. The characters have their flaws and never take any real steps toward bettering themselves, or even see a need to for that matter. Nicole Kidman is a horrible bitch in this movie, a flat-out narcissistic sociopath. Jennifer Jason Leigh is a doormat and Jack Black is an anger ridden, self-involved loser. All of the kids are lost in there parents' obsessive need for drama. So naturally, they will probably turn out to be narcissistic assholes, too.
Short version: Not the feel good movie of the year. ;).
