Review of Margot at the Wedding (2007) by Päivi L — 22 Sep 2008
Margot at the wedding is very difficult movie to review because it does not really fit in any of the movie niches, being very original. The story is about relationships: between sisters, between mothers and children, between husbands and wives, between neighbours. You can take the movie as a story with no clear ending, or then you can really dig into all the little details of the story and dialogue, dig into the dark secrets of being human. I still have some digging to do...
Of the cast I must say that they all do a marvellous job: Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Jason Leigh as sisters, Jack Black as the husband to be, and even the kids. They all give a lot from themselves to create a unique story not often seen in Hollywood, and don't mind showing also the ugly sides of themselves.
