Review of Margot at the Wedding (2007) by Bach P — 03 Oct 2008
AHHHH!!!! Okay, now that that's out of my system, "Margot at the Wedding" is Noah's first film that really feels like he's let everything out of his system. The film has a wonderful script with some genuniely hilarious moments and some not-so-genuinely hilarious moments that come together very well.
"Margot at the Wedding" revolves around Margot, who returns home with her son for her sister's wedding. It is soon apparent that this is no ordinary family, as each member of the film collides in one confrontation after another until the climax of the film where everything just goes to hell.
"Margot at the Wedding" will make your head explode multiple times. It's a frustrating experience, no doubt, but somehow the film manages to be utterly captivating all the same. Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Jason Leigh work wonderfully together and help keep the film accessible enough to watch from beginning to end.
Jack Black offers possibly his best role yet as the depressed fiance.
