Review of Margot at the Wedding (2007) by Patrick W — 29 Jul 2010
I came with high expectation for this movie. I really liked The Squid & The Whale, Greenberg was okay, and I know he was credited as screenwriter for The Aquatic Life With Steve Zissou, so I expected something from this.
Nicole Kidman plays a bitch big mouth mother where she loves two man and can't face the fact her sister is marrying a fat loser and her other sister will come to the wedding (assuming the 3 of 'em had a big fight long time ago). Her son is just so freaking annoying and I can't face the fact he's trying to be so mature by masturbating while he's still sleeping with his mom in underwear. WTF. Jennifer Jason Leigh's character is slightly better and jack Black plays as big lazy ass soon to be married guy who makes out with his teenage neighbor. Messed up character with messed up story. Just plain bad and I understand Noah wants to display and explore the realism in family life in sisterhood and parenting and love relationship, but the story is so unlikeable because it's trying too hard and so unconvincing.
