Review of Margin Call (2011) by Jowana B — 02 Feb 2012
Numbers are fascinating because it represent something more real than mere statistics. As one of the characters discovers the dreadful truth their investment firm is about to collapse, I did not see lines charts or bar graphs but rather people. People about to lose their jobs. People about to lose their homes. People about to lose their minds. Coming into terms that the best times are all but the past is one of the hardest thing to accept. More so in the high stakes realm of financial investment where coming into terms means dealing with moralities. Margin Call is a gripping drama for it focuses on the hard choices people make after realities of life and the consequences of their actions hit them straight in their guts.
