Review of Margin Call (2011) by July L — 25 Aug 2012
The layoff scenes at the beginning were well-done and effective in that they make you feel awful. The pacing was slow and the moral agonizing over selling was unrealistic. What else could they have done ? Agonize over the nature of the business itself, over past business decisions that were about to torpedo the economy, but they had no choice but to sell at that point.
Or if they did, the movie did not present that option.
