If you don't know your historical volatility levels from your market capitalisation (and I sure as hell don't) then you may struggle with the complexities of Margin Call's script, but it's still a fascinating and largely user-friendly story - the tale of a group of Wall Street bankers on the eve of the 2008 financial meltdown who realise too late what their cowboy trading is heading for and knowingly lead the world into chaos in an attempt to salvage what they can.

Don't expect a black and white, damning account of events however where everyone in a suit is a cackling villain, the film incorporates multiple points of view and the moral implications of what they're doing is a large focal point.

The cast is superb - a fine mix of up-and-coming talent and old school quality and the dialogue is sharp as a tack. Great stuff.
