Review of Margaret (2011) by Johan V — 25 Jul 2012
There was so much buzz around this movie I was very interested in watching it. I thought it was nonsensical. Anna Paquin's performance was very good but the mother's storyline was completely superfluous and there was no real connection between the characters across the board.
Particularly grating was the performance of Jeannie Berlin. Oh my goodness this woman is a horrendous actress; she chewed up the screen in every scene she was in. The idea of this 17 year old girl and a dead woman's friend pursuing a lawsuit against the bus driver who killed Monica was ridiculous.
This movie spun out into a hot mess- I didn't care about any of the characters and couldn't wait for this movie to be over.
