The film has its problems -- it's a bit too long at 2.5 hours, and there are several story lines that seem to just get forgotten along the way -- but the performances are terrific (especially Anna Paquin, who carries the film on her more-than-capable shoulders), and the story is often harrowing and very realistic.
Overall, I would highly recommend it.
