Review of Margaret (2011) by Craig T — 11 Nov 2012
Its intended relationship to opera notwithstanding, this film is more akin to the slasher genre: A young woman needs to accept and integrate the horrors of the world in order to survive it, becoming one with the violence around her.
This is a bleak, uncompromising picture as messy and gritty and uncomfortable as can be. Yet its lasting sense is one in which, until the fat lady sings and the gods' sport is you, there can be much to do.
