Review of March of the Penguins (2005) by Alan V — 08 May 2010
I would say this is a very moving romantic sci-fi movie. It is about love, devotion and sometimes despair in a very alien world that is seemingly barren, but teeming with life in its inaccessible core. It is about leaving home, about being born away from home and eventually returning.
It made me understand so much.
And yet...on an aside...Being in the UK, I expected to get the version with the musique by Emiile Simon, she can make some beautifully eerie sounds...However, I got the dumbed-down freemanized version that was made because the producers were afraid that Simon's musique would be too challenging for a non-European market. The conclusion, and I already had that ugly suspicion, is that the limeys are not really European :/.
