Review of Marathon Man (1976) by Robert S — 22 Dec 2007
The infamous root canal scene is nowhere near as intense as I was lead to beleive. The scene with Szell (Olivier) walking down the diamond district street in Manhattan is the real crux of the film. Enjoyable, but a bit dated.
If you want to see Hoffman in an intense 1970s materpiece, see Straw Dogs. That'll put the fear into you.
