Review of Marathon Man (1976) by Georges D — 29 Nov 2010
Very clever construction, and mostly brilliant acting. How we go from a seemingly casual car accident to the man-hunting of a nazi torturer with the CIA involved may sound very artificial, and yet it works perfectly well and when all the threads connect together the plot reveals itself as a very powerful story of violence and manipulation.
The conversion of Dustin Hoffman to violence reminded me a little of "Straw Dogs", another pretty good movie made only a few years earlier...
