Review of Maqbool (2003) by Onkar M — 20 Nov 2007
The film Maqbool directed by Vishal Bharadwaj is tragic, depressing yet powerful. Needless to say, the biggest strength of the film is it's cast. No, I don't mean a big star cast but a superbly talented one with the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Pankaj Kapur, Irrfan Khan, Piyush Mishra, Tabu.
The other strength of the film is the treatment. Set in the Mumbai underworld amidst the Muslim milieu, the tragic and often violent tale has been masterly narrated.
