As he gets older, Cronenberg seems to be pulling further away from the fantastic and concentrating more on the monstrousness within humanity - and it's working. The clinical and observational - but never detached - direction lets the script and the sublime performances of the Moore and Wasikowska.
The end result plays almost as great big "F___ you" to Paul Haggis for stealing the title of 'Crash' - with Cronenberg throwing in massive clichés every five minutes to make valid points rather than our of laziness, and coming to the conclusion that everything may well be connected, and just maybe that's not such a good thing.
