Review of Maps to the Stars (2014) by Prentice S — 26 Sep 2015
"Maps to the Stars" is an interesting film, but one that doesn't live up to the legacy of David Cronenberg or the star power that the film possesses. John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams, and Evan Bird all do tremendous work to show how dysfunctional a family can be, but the story is so shakey and in-human that it's impossible to care about the outcome.
By the end, I'm sort of waiting for them all to implode on themselves and when they do, I find myself satisfied, but not for the right reasons. I can't bring myself to dislike "Maps to the Stars," but I can't find a way to love it either.
