Review of Mao’s Last Dancer (2009) by Hannah : — 02 Nov 2009
A beautiful, inspiring story with amazing visuals. This is a movie where the audience should sit back and enjoy the wonderful dancing and character development, rather than nitpick at the way Beresford cut through the political points; they are obvious to begin with, and in a movie that comes in at just under 2 hours, it would have distracted rather than added to a story that charts Li Cunxin's wonderful journey of courage and perseverence.
Fingers crossed it comes out on DVD and gets a worldwide release date, because it deserves to be seen by all.
