Review of Mao’s Last Dancer (2009) by Eunice P — 13 Jun 2010
This is a good story with heaps of potentials. However, it's lacking in passion, leaving the audience underwhelmed. The depiction of how Li is supposedly so in love with his first love is particularly unconvincing.
Beautiful cinematography though. Spectacular village scenery. Brilliant brilliant ballet scenes - which more than make up for the inadequate acting on the dancers' parts.
