Review of Mao’s Last Dancer (2009) by Stephen P — 05 Jul 2010
This is a movie based on a true story. It made the most of the subject matter, though not much really happens. The lead actor does a good job: he provides good emotion and nicely changes the quality of his English through the movie.
Provides a little insight into 70s and 80s China, though only shades. There is good dancing in this movie and was a good decision to cast an actual ballet dancer in the main role. Ultimately fun, but not as deep as it could potentially have been, limited by the source material.
