Review of Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media (1992) by Dominic D — 02 Jan 2008
Noam Chomsky's ideas might not be shared by everyone, but they sure are interesting. They'd probably be more fascinating when better explored, but this documentary repeatedly flies over some of Chomsky's more dense material.
I would've liked a more thorough examination of his theories and work. This doc spends some time on his life, some on his work, and ends up slightly missing the point on both accounts. Two 2-hour documentaries should've been made instead of this 3-hour behemoth.
Still quite interesting, but not as good as it could've been.
