Review of Manufactured Landscapes (2006) by Bomb C — 26 Jun 2008
Visually stimulating! The opening scene is the most amazing of all. The massive landscapes which shaped different global settings revealed certain truths to be told ONLY by the viewer alone...this was the beauty of this film.
The film felt rather long, would have rather seen a 1 hour special on this. Could have done without all of Burtynsky's photographic slideshow shots. Despite the fact that my patience was running thin with the slide show scenes, the ultimate goal was definitely reached.
What Jennifer Baichwal did was uncover E. Burtynsky's art in a moving picture manner. In effect, this emphasized the necessity to understand the vast pool of each people's specific struggles and strifes in relation to the ever-so-changing physical landscapes within these times modernity.
Go film...
