Review of Mantle (2005) by Carolyn G — 26 Aug 2011
Despite this being 6 years old, I had never seen it before until it was re-run on HBO recently. Better late than never. Watching this, I was reminded of everything I loved about baseball when I was a kid (but too young to have known anything about the Mantle era).
I remembered those lazy afternoons parked in front of the TV watching my beloved Cubbies, hero-worshiping Jody Davis and Bobby Dernier and Ryno and Penguin and... this was a great little documentary. It didn't need to be any longer than it was to capture the heart of Mickey Mantle or the beauty of baseball as it used to be.
Not ashamed to say that I cried at the end!
