Review of Mannequin (1987) by Phil B — 08 Oct 2007
Very 80s. The plot's fun, but nothing mind-blowing. In fact - that's pretty much the film summed up - fun but nothing mind blowing. Good for a bit of a wind-down with a bowl of pop-corn or something, not likely to ever become your favourite unless you saw it in the 80s as a kid or something.
Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" finishes the final scene off nicely - a cracking track, and the whole film is peppered with pleasantly 80's sounding synth pop. And this might just be me, but watching the trailer instantly transported me back to a pokey flea-pit cinema from my childhood, long since demolished, which was kind of nice.
So in short - 80s in a good way, enjoyable, recommended, but it's not honestly an outstanding film or anything.
