Review of Manic (2002) by Stephanie M — 27 Jul 2007
A pretty accurate portrayal of a juvenile wing in a psychiatric hospital. It is shot in the style of a documentary which is an interesting touch (unless you have motion-sickness.. very shaky camera work).
Some of the kids in the group scenes were actually in-patients. The acting by Don Cheadle was excellent, he put a lot of work into creating his character. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Bacall, Zooey Deschanel, and the other younger actors did an amazing job as well.
An overlooked film that everyone should see.
