Review of Maniac (2012) by Evan J — 11 May 2013
Remake of the 1980 classic. Wood is badly cast and looks more like a rentboy than a sick, twisted, serial killing ,scalp collecting, mannequin lover. It is hard not to compare it to William Lustig's original, which was more disturbing due to the fact that Frank Zito (Joe Spinell) actually went out and bought his own mannequins and didn't have the luxury of owning a shop with an unlimited supply.
It is nicely shot and a nice homage paid to Buffalo Bill with Q Lazzarus-Goodbye Horses.
