2012's Maniac Is An Extremely Enjoyable Remake & Update Of The Cult Classic Video Nasty Of The Same Name. To Start With Its Not A Line By Line, Shot By Shot Remake Which Adds A Bit Of Difference.

The Story Is Re-Worked To Stand Up In Today's World & This Meaning A Change Slightly In Pace, And Atmosphere, This However Works As A Mild Improvement. The Thing Which Attracted Me To This Version Was The Fact That The Whole Film Is Seen Through The Killer's Eyes Making It Involve The Audience In Some Small Way.

This Pays Off As The Atmosphere Can Be And Is More Intense Than Watching The Murders From A Third Person View (Which Most Are Filmed In). Elijah Wood Is The Perfect Kind Of Creepy Looking When We See Him As A Reflection In A Mirror And Similar Reflective Objects.

This Film Gives Of An Excellent Vibe But Sadly Has Its Flaws. A Must See If You'd Like To See A Slasher From Another Point of View.
