A remarkably unnerving and violent horror film that's a cut above the rest, Maniac benefits greatly from Elijah Wood's performance as well as the rough-around-the-edges production (as well as a great soundtrack).
While not the most polished film, Maniac does much more justice for the horror genre than most.
