Review of Maniac (1980) by Stephen M — 27 Apr 2010
OH MANIAC. I felt the need to watch this and I'm glad I did because it really dives face first into the life and mind of a truly deranged killer who comes across almost too realistically. It truly takes a certain type of actor to be able to pull off this disturbed and truly creepy role that in entails.
Maniac doesn't push any envelopes in comparison to modern day slashers, but for the time it was very revolutionary thanks to special effects expert Tom Savini who also makes a cameo.
