Wow. this, was one hell of a film.

Great special effects (its Savini, it better damn well be good); from head shots, to scalping, to complete mutilation and decapitation, blood is everywhere. it definitely has its tense moments (such as the car scene after the man has been shot). the killer is straight up a psycho path, yet, I managed to feel a small amount of pity for him. joe spinell did a terrific job as this pitiful monster. also, maniac happens to be well filmed (love that strange blue lighting in almost every 80's horror film).

A sequel was supposed to be filmed but due to Spinell's tragic death during filming the movie was stopped. its a damn shame really...
