Review of Maniac (1980) by Ariuza K — 24 Dec 2010
What is seemingly a typical 80's slasher film (a woman is killed either during or after a bath, and all of the special effects are done by Tom Savini) is set apart by the fact that it is told entirely from the point of view of the killer.
It takes the genre down a psychological path and makes it much darker. While I like the concept, the killer is a relatively static character, and the story runs thin.
