Review of Manhunter (1986) by Adrian T — 06 Jan 2010
To me this movie was pure art, the acters were incredable and played the roles with feeling and conviction. the story veered from the book but in this case it wasnt a bad thing, just as good as the book but different enough to make it not be predictable.
michael mann used lighting in each sceene to reflect the characters moods to further perfect this movie. the main theme of brilliant cop seeking serial killer by using a brilliant captured killer was great but my favorite part was when francis dollarhyde (the killer) falls for a blind coworker who dosent care about his facial deformity that has shamed him all his life and he falls for her, falling in love and being loved for the first time almost turning from killing.
..till his sickness sends him over the edge. also notable is the great and well chosen sound track. the plot acting cinamatography and directing all blend perfectly to make this a superb exceptional serial killer movie with alot of depth.
