Review of Manhunter (1986) by Ian N — 14 Apr 2008
Pretty true to the book (Red Dragon) but this looks so 80s it's untrue. Still good though. Gil Grissom as Will Graham is way better than Ed Norton's pussy-ass attempt. Cox as Lecter? Hmm, still undecided on that one. The film is great for suspense and is probably the most sinister out of all of them as the focus is away from Lecter. Buffalo Bill just didn't seem scary in Silence of the Lambs as he wore women's clothing and you always felt with Hopkins as Lecter, you were kind of on his side!
Had to do a double take as I recently saw a CSI with Tom Noonan (Francis Dolarhyde) as a magician Grissom catches. Had no idea they had worked together 20 years previously!
If you're a fan of Tom Harris, then you'll like this movie...
