Review of Manhunter (1986) by Miikka O — 19 Feb 2008
Yeah, this is the movie, which started it all, even if the big audience woke up just after the Silence of the Lambs. Manhunter is stylish, exciting and intense. Michael Mann sure knows how to combine tight directing with a cool soundtrack.
And the young William Petersen as Will Graham delivers an excellent performance, having the rest of the cast supporting him well. Maybe not as good as the Silence of the Lambs, but much better than Hannibal or Red Dragon (which obviously was a remake of this one).
Worth looking into, especially if you dig Michael Mann's stuff like Miami Vice or Heat.
