Review of Manhunter (1986) by Kevin H — 26 Mar 2009
This is the original version of Red Dragon and it is infinitely superior to that film. William "CSI" Petersen does an excellent job as a detective and Bryan Cox shines as Hannibal Lecter in a performance that at the very least equals Hopkins from Silence of the Lambs.
The story moves forward at a breackneck pace and director Michael Mann certainly knows how to tell it the right way. An unheralded film, one would do themselves a favour by throwing out their copy of Red Dragon and putting this film in its place.
