Review of Manhunter (1986) by Travis T — 14 May 2009
Really awesome! You have to see this if you like the Hannibal series or if you like Michael Mann (his touch is all over this baby). You can definitely tell by the camera operation and blue tinted night shots.
Mann is tremendous and truly one of the consistently best directors out there. William Petersen is awesome in this. Weird seeing the CSI veteran so young. Farina is great. The suspense is perfect and the violence is fantastic.
Had some nasty 80's visuals and music, but it was at least bearable and not overwhelming for people like me. You gotta love Mann's rock music climax. He still has some of the best soundtracks of all time.
He knows how to use rock to his advantage to heighten suspense. Bravo.
