Review of Manhunter (1986) by Aryo G — 04 Dec 2009
A very good and suspenseful film and it compares interestingly with its 2002 remake Red Dragon.
I feel that Red Dragon is more expository (with a lot more back story for everybody), but I feel Manhunter is a lot more suspenseful. That's probably do to the fact that we don't even get a glimpse of the killer until what feels like at least an hour in.
It's funny, both films are kinda different in narration but both are solid, and I think that's a testament to Thomas Harris' good story. My only problem with this one was its very outdated and 80's soundtrack; especially when William Petersen had a revelation.
