Manhunter is the movie that Red Dragon was made from. It is the story of a serial killer who is corresponding with Hannibal Lecter. He is trying to turn himself into Blake's Red Dragon.
I personally liked Red Dragon better. I am a gore fan though. The gore was very minimal here. I also didn't like anyone that they cast for any of the roles in this movie. Red Dragon is a much better fit for this story.
