Review of Manhunter (1986) by Noah F — 20 Jan 2015
Michael Peterson as Will Graham and Tom Noonan as Francis Dollarhyde.. Whoa. Such chemistry between two characters who don't meet until the final minutes of the film and never speak a word, and the individual performances are structurally solid.
Noonan's Tooth Fairy is so complex and executed ingeniously. So much pain and internal combat is depicted through such quiet acting, and while Brian Cox's Lecktor is inferior to Hopkins' Lector, it still boasts merit, depicting a jerk Hannibal.
Michael Mann's writing/directing is phenomenal. He really introduced the 80's flick to horror and serial killer culture, and the result is a well-constructed, complex thriller.
