Review of Manhunter (1986) by Willy W — 26 Jan 2015
I always wished I could've seen this before I knew Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter, but after a recent revisit I realized it didn't matter - this is not a Hannibal Lecter (or Lecktor) film, it's about FBI agent Will Grahm, who has extraordinarily sensitive abilities to empathize with a serial killer's point of view, and the Tooth Fairy, a really creepy serial killer.
Future Lecter films, and particularly the new TV series, would go on to be more captivating, but this was a nice effort by Michael Mann at giving us a suspenseful dive into psychotic behavior.
