Review of Manhattan (1979) by Petros T — 11 Dec 2010
One of Allen's greatest achievements, this beautifully photographed film never derails (as happens with "Annie Hall" for example) and keeps you going. Woody's humour is at its best while his performance disclaims his neurotic themes.
The cast's females are adorable and Gershwin's compositions are just amazing, perfectly matched with a black and white NY. Among Allen's films about sexual relationships, this is the one that throws away almost all of his cliches and just feels good.
Really good.
